It is road trip season, and we've highlighted some of the coolest cabin destinations in Ontario and New York! Whether you prefer glamping, luxury cottages, or restored rentals with historical charm, these 8 vacation spots have something for everyone.

 

1. The Lowry Lakehouse 

This 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage retreat comes with everything you need for a fun weekend with friends. It includes a full dining room, a kitchen, a fireplace, a large room for lounging, a screened-in porch, barbecue, multiple fire pit areas, and tons of outdoor space. Best of all, it is situated on a private lakefront and even comes with canoes and kayaks! 

Take the boats for a spin and explore the 13 islands sprinkled throughout the lake. Or, venture out to the surrounding area for more amenities such as golf courses, breweries, and Frontenac Provincial Park. 

2. The Mallard Muskoka

This comfortable yet stylish cedar cottage is perfect for families or small groups. It has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and sleeps 6 people. Its Southwestern sun exposure results in gorgeous sunsets all year round, and the shallow water entrance is perfect for swimming. The Mallard is suitable for a winter trip as well, with options to skate or snowshoe!

This restored ‘One Room Schoolhouse’ is a stay to remember! It is both intimate and unique, with a bedroom loft, a farmhouse kitchen, cozy lighting and tons of amenities in the surrounding area. There are several lakes for fishing and swimming, and multiple restaurants and antique stores waiting for your discovery. Check out the ‘Forestburgh General Store’ for all of your needs during your stay (yes, all of them). They have food and other essentials, and they deliver!

Level up your getaway with a couples massage, arranged by the host themselves! The massage therapists will come to your little abode day or night to help you achieve full relaxation.

4. Container Cabin

Looking for something even more outside of the box? Why not stay in an actual box! A shipping container, that is. This converted container cabin is an oasis you’d never expect. It includes a wood stove, a sofa bed, a kitchenette, a record player, a patio, a shower, a yoga platform, a hammock, and a 30-foot waterfall! Experience life off-grid for a short while, and become one with nature - while still having a comfy space to sleep. 

This cabin uses solar power, and a composting toilet. It is surrounded by forest, rovers, and lakes, and dozens of hiking trails await you only 15 minutes away. While this cabin is fit for two, you can bring more friends if you inquire about the other container cabins on the property. 

5. Acton Glamping

Looking for a peaceful getaway not too far from the city? Consider glamping in Acton, Ontario! This property includes a bathroom, a TV, a dining area, Wi-Fi, a kitchen area with a fridge, a barbecue, a fire pit, and a small cabana near a beautiful waterfall! There are 2 double beds, perfect for a family of four or a small group of friends.

6. Sanctuary in the County

This beautifully restored space is exactly what it sounds like: a sanctuary. Built for ultimate relaxation, this romantic getaway spot is both rustic and modern, equipped with a king-sized bed, a bathtub, a yoga corner, and a kitchenette. This sanctuary was once a church, and you’ll be sleeping on the altar! It can also accommodate families with its pull-down murphy bed, but everything is in one large room, so prepare to be very close!

Prince Edward County is a wonderful place to explore, complete with many wineries, restaurants, and beaches. Best of all, the host is a photographer, and her services are available if your stay is a special occasion!

7. The Lake House

This Malibu-inspired retreat is complete with a lakefront view and a covered deck overlooking Lake Rosseau. There is a ton of green space, and the large cottage can accommodate up to 10 people.

The Lake House is perfect for large families or groups, and even has a basement with a gym! Enjoy the numerous amenities such as a barbecue, a fire pit, and a hot tub, too!

8. Outlier Inn Geodome

This 12-acre farm is one special spot for your next glamping adventure! Not your regular cabin, the dome space can be used for many purposes other than glamping such as workshops, photoshoots, rehearsal space, or parties. It is great for a couple’s retreat, but can also accommodate a larger group if you bring your own air mattress or sleeping bags.

Outside the dome are the double hot showers, a sink, and a clawfoot tub. There is also a kitchen, a grill, and a large fire pit for the true glamping experience! There is a lake across the street, and lots to explore even on the property itself, which houses many farm animals and hiking trails.
