Marketing Associate
Location: Toronto, Canada (hybrid preferred) or remote
About Us:
A bon vivant is someone who lives well. Not expensively — well. They know which café has the good croissant and which bottle to bring to dinner. They own a few good things and they use them until the leather goes dark.
We make those things. Wallets, belts, and bags handcrafted in Toronto and Montréal from vegetable-tanned leather, merino and Italian wools, and waxed cotton canvas. Small batches, old techniques, made to last and meant to be used.
Most of what gets called luxury is well marketed and poorly made. We'd rather be the other way around.
We sell direct, through wholesale, and through a growing corporate gifting business. The team is small — three founders, two on sales, one on logistics, and a full-time content creator. You'd be our first dedicated marketing hire.
Job Overview:
You'll own the day-to-day execution of our email and social channels. That means you're the person who actually ships: building and sending campaigns, running our Instagram and TikTok testing process, keeping the flows healthy, and making sure nothing sits half-finished.
This is a build-it-with-us role, not a maintain-it role. You'll have direct access to the founders, real ownership of two channels (Email and social), and the freedom to test things. If it goes well, this becomes a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
Email (roughly half your week)
- Design and build campaign emails in Magicals, on-brand and on-schedule
- Improve our existing Klaviyo flows — welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase — and build the ones we're missing
- Write campaign copy in our voice (we'll edit closely at first)
- List segmentation, QA, and send hygiene
- Weekly reporting on what performed and why
Social (roughly half your week)
- Run our Instagram trial reel process: post the trials, read the results, pick the winner, publish to the full audience
- Recreate winning reels for TikTok and publish there
- Schedule stories and static posts from our existing content library
- Write captions
- Community management — replies, comments, DMs
The Bonus Round
- Daily engagement with Toronto and Canadian accounts on Instagram: genuine comments, genuine conversations, no copy-paste. This is how a local brand gets found by local people, and it only works if it's real.
What Success Looks Like:
By day 30: You're shipping campaigns without hand-holding on the mechanics. You know the brand rules cold and haven't broken them.
By day 60: Our flow coverage is complete and our email revenue share is climbing. You're picking reel winners without asking.
By day 90: You're bringing us ideas we hadn't thought of, and we're wondering how we ran this without you.
Who You Are:
Required:
- 1+ year doing this work hands-on for a DTC or e-commerce brand
- Real Klaviyo experience — you've built flows and segments yourself, not just watched someone else do it.
- You can write. Clean, plain, unfussy sentences. No exclamation marks, no hype.
-
You have design taste and can work inside a strict brand system (set fonts, set colours, set layout logic) without wandering off
- Comfortable in Instagram and TikTok natively — you understand how reels actually perform, not just how to schedule them
- Organized enough that things don't get dropped
- Reliable overlap with Toronto business hours
Nice to Have:
- Basic video editing (CapCut or similar) for the TikTok recreations
- Shopify familiarity
- SMS marketing, especially with CASL in mind
- Pinterest
Not Required: a marketing degree, agency experience, or a portfolio full of brands you've heard of. Show us work you're proud of and we'll take it from there.
The Details
- Hours: 20 per week, flexible scheduling within reason. Expect closer to 25 for the first six weeks while we build out the flow backlog, and again through the Q4 holiday season.
- Location: If you're in Toronto, this is hybrid — you'd be in for shoots, planning sessions, and the occasional coffee. If you're not, we're open to remote for the right person.
- Compensation: $1,800–$2,500 CAD/month depending on experience, plus performance bonuses. The monthly rate assumes 20 hours a week; anything beyond that is billed at the same hourly rate.
- Contract: Part-time contractor to start.
- Growth: We want this to become full-time. That's the plan if the work is good.
- Start: As soon as we find the right person.
